Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕
This morning they headed over to the bay and only saw one seal foraging. Hmmmm wonder who that could be? Of course it was the little bad boy RL20. He now has another wound from a hook on the right side of his mouth. Nothing bad or to worry about. He is accumulating many little nicks from all the hooks.
He was still out there on their afternoon check. He was in the same place only now there were boats out there.
At another west side location they were thrilled to see RN14 had made it back to the west side. He was on the rocks and it appears his molt is about 98% complete. Looking handsome.
They also spotted RH76 Kala coming in and she landed on the rocks. She is looking chubby today. Her tags were visible along with the shark bite scar on her face.
Heading over to tracks there was R407 Kawika, snoozing on shore. There were signs around him with a woman in a small tent close by. Thankfully she was respectful.
Staying for a while and looking out over the water for another seal, there was nothing. No seals, no whales and no dolphins. So they headed out.
Well after arriving at another area they spotted Kekoa Alii RK72 on the rocks. He was alone and snoozing.
Then finally a critter finally showed up with they were further way. They headed over there was RH32 Kaale hauled up by the big rock. He looks great, big boy and very healthy.
Lastly to their delight they found Miss RL42 Leia. She was out cold on shore, snoozing her heart away. She is looking fat and no new markers. Everyone there was respectable for a change. Yeah!!
Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 10:30 to 12:10 today, there were a total of five seals today.
Near the 1BS were two seals:
Molting male (MM): large adult, gray male belly, on tag on RRF. This seal is about 55% molted, the entire ventral surface is new and the molt continues up the sides. He appears to have some line scars mid ventral area.
About noontime another seal hauled out by the MM and SF1. The newcomer U/A: subadult to adult size, at least one tag, unknown gender and a newer coat.
Near the 3BS:
U/J: juvenile size, vert light belly and no visible tags. Marilyn thinks this is a female but she could not be sure.
Between 3BS and SRI was a second SF2: subadult size, light female belly and two tags. There were no other distinguishing marks.
