It was a drizzly kind of day, making it difficult to get good pictures of seals that were further away. There were seals foraging/fighting off the shores at Kahe. Unfortunately there were snorkelers following close by the seals for a long time. They saw four seals just off the out fall at first. Then the snorkelers entered the area and that was it. They were following the seals taking pictures. Really really irritating.
The first seal to haul out in the area was RN14 Kalani. He made hisway up on the rocks where he stayed for the day. Next up was R3CX Nalu hanging out close to RN14.
Hope from NOAA was onsite and was able to apply bleach IDs on these boys! (happy happy happy)
RN14 Kalani was bleached left shoulder, right side, dorsal posterior N14
R3Cx Nalu was bleached right and left side N6
Team R&B went looking for seals so they could be bleached, seems somehow they knew and were all MIA. One of the locations that Team R&B had seen the fishing line, they asked Hope if she could cut it since it was a spot where the seals haul out. Hope gathered the lines cut it and took it away. (thank you Hope!!!)
Hope spotted two seals and alerted Team R&B. They walked over to the area and there was RM31 with RL98.
RL98 was bleached on her left side with N34
RM31 was bleached on right side shoulder area N4
RG28 was bleached on the rights side N29 (might look like N24)
They also found RP30 Puka on the rocks sound a sleep. There was no need to bleach this little guy since he already has M30 applied bleach.
