12/15/2021 Wednesday Monk Seal Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:10 to 2:15 and there was a total of two seals today.
Initially there was only one seal when she arrived, in the middle cliff area was an unknown juvebnile.
U/J : juvenile size, yellowish belly and two tags. There was no natural bleach marks, and Marilyn could not determine its gender.
About 1:18 Marilyn noticed that an A/M had hauled out near the 1BS. The seal was subadult to adult size, newer coat, gray male belly. Marilyn saw at least one tag on the RRF.

Team R&B have been studying dolphin fins for years and the last two years, they've been taking photos of a particular dolphin with a unique dorsal. They have named this dolphin NIPFIN !
Along with identifying NIPFIN, they found RK72 Kekoa Alii hauled out on the rocks. Also R407 Kawika was hauled out on the left side of Kekoa.

The construction/restoration crew dumped and spread lots of sand at the tracks parking lot. They even added where the seals haul out.
Over at the outfall they spot a small seal foraging. It turned out to be RL20 who disappeared, until they spotted him hauling out on the rocks. He looks really good in his new coat and sweet he's hanging out with the big boys again.

Team R&B spot another seal foraging just off the outfall. They watch him eat a red fish and were able to ID RH32 Kaale.
Later he tried to haul out at tracks near the construction area, he paused and looked around. Kaale left and landed way away on shore. He is looking good, nothing new to report, other than he's quite plump and healthy.

At another west side location they saw a seal hauled out resting at seal inlet. They ID'd RG28 Lefty and turns out he was alone today.
