12/14/2021 Tuesday Monk Seal Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team R&B and the blog lady💕me.

My story is short and sweet, I went up to Turtle Bay with some friends to meet another friend for lunch. Of course we had to take a walk and reminisce of all the pup watches and the time put in over the years. We kept walking, as I was looking for wallows, eagle eyes Diga said there's a seal.  Sure enough there was a very large seal. Diga was able to determine male, then saw the tag. It was Holokai G40 snoozing on the shoreline.
We were also treated to viewing a couple of albatross sitting on their nest. I must admit in that I had never seen one as close, they are truly majestic birds. Having said that, I wouldn't want one coming after me.

Team R&B started their day observing Nalu R3CX hauling out on shore at tracks. Then a second seal
arrived with Nalu and the two argue at the shoreline. They were unable to get an ID on the second seal so it was reported as an U/U.

At another location they found the handsome R407 Kawika what was hauled out on the rocks. There was a bird by Kawika eating a fish, not something you see everyday.
Next came Kekoa Alii RK72 who hauled out by Kawika.
While observing the two boys, they spotted another seal coming towards the rocks. It's Kaale RH32 and he landed on the rocks as well. They must have been tired, in that there wasn't any interaction between them.

Before Team R&B left to run some errands they watched the dolphins at play.
When they returned they went back to tracks to check and saw that R3CX had returned to the same spot.
There were big tractors moving the sand, looks like repairs are on the way from the recent storm damage.

It was later in the day but Team R&B kept going. They stopped at the bay and happy to find RL20 hauled out. He's back to his home base.

At another west side location they found RG28 Lefty and RH76 Kala together. They were hauled out on
the rocks snoozing together.

Lastly late afternoon just before sunset they found Lei Ola RH48 hauled out alone. She was snoozing alone. Team R&B were happy to see her, but worried in that there are dogs in the area and a camp. Hopefully Lei Ola will rest without being disturbed.
