April 7, 2019 Monk Seal Dailies

Today's attempt at a daily report is brought to you by Marilyn and Team Billand.  Lucky we have something in the yesterday's news department.

Marilyn was out checking the southeast quadrant and spent over an hour at the pier today observing Rabbit Island. Sadly she was completely skunked!

Marilyn did receive mail from posse pal Ken T. who did the Ka'ena Point trek yestersday before leaving the island. So in yesterdays news department Ken found R3CU in the rocks between the main pool and the runway at about 9:30 am. On the hike back to his car he found RK88 Puna snoozing on Hidden Beach about 10:15 am.

Team Billand was out ALL day making all their usual stops all the nooks and crannies and they came up with zero, nada, zilch, a big fat goose egg.
Then at 4:50 pm they went one last time to one of the westside haul outs and they spotted some movement in the center of high rock.
The lighting is very good this time of day with the sun getting ready to set and a bad glare.  Team Billand worked their way around, and there was Ka'ale RH32 galumphing up on the rocks, taking his time.
Team Billand took plenty pictures so that could positively ID RH32 Ka'ale, and no doubt it was butthead.
