Team T&D (Tammy and Dave) went out to Kahuku today and found two critters. RO16 Right Spot looks like she probably was there over night. And I have to add she's looking rough these days. When they returned from their hike she was gone.
Team T&D also found R353,
Team Billand were at the Outfall at 7 am and didn't see any critters, until they suddenly noticed the water had wakes coming towards them. It was for sure a seal but it took off. They went to another location and here comes a seal who they ID'd as RIP RR70. He didn't haul out, he just took a look around and then was gone.
There were some tourist in the area asking about the seals at the outfall. The fishemen told them they come and go, and at one point one of the tourist thought they saw a seal but it turned out to be diver. Very curious that tourist would be coming to look for seals here.
Next stop to a westside beach Team Billand spotted two seals together in the shallows. It was Kekoa Alii RK72 on the rocks and Benny RE72 was in the shallows on his side sleeping.
Kekoa moved from the shallows up to high rocks and stayed there. Benny continued his nap in the shallows.
Another seal came in, they ID'd RN14 Kalani. He came in next, looked around came back and hauled up the seal inlet facing Kekoa. Kekoa looked right at him, vocalized, Kalani turned right and went to sleep in his own spot for the day. Benny didn't care and just slept in the shallows and then moved over to the "play boy" pond.
Team Billand decided to do the Ka'ena West Trek. On their way they made a quick stop and found little RK88 Puna he was alone, sleeping on the rocks, tags showing.
At Ka'ena WEst they found RK36 Kauai Kolohe resting on the rocks, tags showing, He was in a deep snooze but looking quite healthy. He was still there on their way out.
Next find for Team Billand was Ka'ena RO40 in the same spot as yesterday, but he was alone.
