An email from Darlene & Todd expressed how surprised and thrilled today when they found Kaiwi's kid RK24. They spotted a seal and was hoping it was Kaiwi, but knew right away it was a different critter. They were able to get some decent photos and when they referenced the tag number they were thrilled to learn it was in fact K24 Kaiwi's 2018 pup.
Darlene commented how she wished she could have called DB to share their excitement and knowing he would have loved hearing the news.
The story doesn't end there, because I know if DB were here he would have one upped them by sharing today is in fact K24 first birthday.... NOW that is something to be excited about!
Team Billand first find came at 8:30 this morning when they were getting ready to head out to Ka'ena West. They made a quick stop to check the beach, after a thorough check of the area they came up empty until a wave came in and here comes RK88 Puna. He is looking very cute and green and small. They didn't stay long as to not bring any attention to him
Team Billand did Ka'ena west and got skunked. Good thing they went earlier than later.
Leaving the area Team Billand stopped at a westside beach and upon arrival volunteer Melina was there. Just below on the rocks was RH32 Kaale and RL42 Leia. Both were snoozing, with Ka'ale's head on her belly. Leia didn't seem to mind at all. They look pretty cute together. Once again they decided not to stay so it wouldn't draw attention to them.
Team Billand's last find of the day was about 1:30 at a haul out by the outfall. They found RG28 was way inland on the rocks. He is looking quite big these days and his cookie scars are healed up. Actually they healed so well that it's hard to tell who he is. There was a homeless guy walking by him and RG28 was aware of him.
RG28 scooted over the rocks near the waters edge. His tags were visible, and a fat belly.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY RK24
