Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 148 to 3:08 and there were four seals on island today.
On the rocks back of LPB was Weaner A (guessing its RS34) her tags were visible but never got a look at her belly. She stayed in the same position during the entire time.
Marilyn got a brief look at Weaner B about 20 feet from Weaner A. Then Weaner B disappeared and at 2:30 she hauled out at middle cliff. Her two tags were visible and her belly was covered in sand.
On the rock flats behind SRI were two seals:
Adult Female: adult size, older coat, mottled tannish gray female belly, not sure about tags.
A short distance away and partly hidden by rocks is what Marilyn is labeling an Unknown Juvenile: juvenile size, old coat with lots of green, unsure about sex or tags.
Team R&B had a difficult time getting going today, they were especially saddened by the loss of two young seals this past few weeks.
Their first stop at the bay they found two seals playing in the water. It seemed like everytime they wanted to haul out the homeless were in their spot.
They waited for two hours hoping they would haul out to get positive IDs. They pretty sure the smaller seal was RM31 Kai. They think the bigger seal was Kala RH76. After playing for hours the two of them disappeared.
Of course they went to check on Lei Ola RH48 who is looking quite beautiful. She is 100% molted and doing just great. They noted the sadness that the lost of her pupshortly after weaning. Heartbreaking to have this happen. Team R&B wanted to stay longer but didn't stay so they wouldn't draw attention to her.
At another west side location which was their last stop. They found one seal at seal inlet. To the right was RG32 alone and resting.
