Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:10 to 1:50 and there was only one weaner on island.
The first hour and a half she didn't see any seals. As she was doing a last sweep at 1:40 she saw a Weaner hauling out over the waterfront rocks in the middle cliff area. It's anyone's guess as to which weaner was there. Weaner size, shape and coloration and two red tags. Marilyn never got a look at its ventral or right side. Once the weaner went over the rocks it was hidden by the high waterfront rocks.
Team R&B started their day at the bay and found two seals. They were both sleeping and seemed they might have spent the night. RH48 Lei Ola was their first identification. Her new coat is looking so smooth and clean!
The other seal was RM31 Kai who was dry as well. He basically in the same spot he's been for the past few days.
They stayed to see if more seals would arrive and its good they did. They spotted a big male hauling out to the right. It was RH32 Kaale who was very vocal as he arrived. He settled down in the small pond.
Then Team R&B saw a young girl with cell phone running and recording something. They watched and sure enough another seal was coming in so fast. The seal saw the girl and took a detour. Team R&B waited and the girl left. The seal returned and it was Nalu R3CX who was checking out the inlets, and saw Kaale RH32. He went charging over to Kaale, gave him a sniff and Kaale went ballistic from a deep sleep. They fought for a bit until Nalu gave up and left while Kaale stayed.
Team R&B had to hurry to get to an appointment, but managed a quick stop at another west side location. They found R416 snoozing by the seal inlet. As they moved about the saw a second seal not to far from him. They ID'd RG32.
