07/24/2022 Sunday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn, Gayle, and Team R&B💕

There was also big news today, Rocky and PO8 went viral when Rocky went after a swimmer today. To my understanding Rocky had lost sight of PO8 when the kid went for a swim by the Natatorium. Rocky was frantic and did catch up with PO8. Meanwhile a woman entered the water and had been told not to swim that close to their zone. The woman did not listen and Rocky and PO8 were in the area, and Rocky went for the woman. She was able to get away, and taken to the hospital. Not sure the extent of her injuries, but it all could have been avoided. Thanks to Gamma Gayle, who was there this afternoon, Rocky and PO8 are fine. She sent a couple of photos of the kid nursing.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:30 to 1:25 and there were four seals today.6
Initially she spotted weaner PO7 where she has been mostly hidden at the back of LPB. At 11:50 Marilyn became aware of more activity near PO7. An Unknown Female had hauled out nearby and Marilyn also noticed RQ76 was there too. For the next 30 minutes or so there was lots of moving around among the three. (RQ76 is smaller than PO7 and applied bleach on PO7 was visible).
Marilyn is reporting the female as an unknown because she couldn't confirm ID. Subadult to adult size, newer coat, female belly and unsure about tags. The UF seems to have a double parallel scar on her right rear side.
RQ76 galumphed over to the middle of LPB and went into snooze mode.
Behind the waterfront rocks at the 3BS of Middle Cliff was the Adult Female that appears to have finished her molt. She snoozed on the rocks. Soon after a 3-person outrigger canoe went by her. She entered the wate about 12:56 and then hauled out 8 minutes later at the 1BS of LPB.

Team R&B started out at Kahe where they found a seal on the rocks. They ID'd RL08 moving about as if he was uncomfortable. He hurried closer to the water and threw up. Hmmmm something didn't agree with him. After that he galumphed back up higher on the rocks.
Team R&B were looking around at other areas, turned to look and RL08 had left. They never saw him again
They spotted another seal in the water, looking over the rocks at RL08. It was RN14 Kalani, he looked turned around and left.

At another west side location they found Left RG28 snoozing in the shallows alone. His tags were visible but difficult to read.
When they did a recheck he was gone. BUT... RP30 Puka was now up on the rocks, trying to stay dry from the upcoming tide. His bleach was showing, and will probably come off when he molts soon.

Next stop they found RM31 Kai resting on the edge of the
rocks. While they were talking with a friend about today's big seal story they noticed RM31 getting knocked off the rocks by the waves. He left the site, which is good because the beach was crowded.
And once again they were entertained by some dolphins.
