We do have a couple of updates for you. Marilyn sent a correction to that PO7 was weaned at 42 or 43 days old. Also an email from Kilali Gibson of NOAA that PO6 and PO7 have been given names by the kids at windward side schools:
'Malama Honua Charter School gifted PO6 the name “Malama” which means light, month or moon. The students thought this name was appropriate because Malama represents both light and a cycle of things. The pup’s name symbolizes being a light, hope for the community, and a new phase or new cycle of good things to come. In addition, PO6 has officially been weaned and given her permanent ID of RQ76!
Ke Kula Kaiapuni o Waimanalo ma Blanche Pope named PO7 “Mahina” meaning moon. The keiki see the mahina rise by the island every once in a while, so they thought that was appropriate!

Team T&D joined Lesley and hiked Ka'ena Point. They found a total of four seals today. Their first findwas RL74 Kami who might be close to molting.
Next they found weaner RQ24 Mauna who is spreading his flippers and venturing farther away from birth beach. Glad they laid eyes on him. Next they found Ka'ena RO40 who seems to stay at his name sake. He's one of the few seals that has stayed close to where he was born. Lastly they found RW02 PvKauai.
Team R&B started their day at Kahe and spotted a green seal. It was RL08 alone on the rocks. He hardly moved getting some good rest.
While at the site they saw a pod of dolphins once again looking like they were having fun. There was a boat from UH by the dolphins. Whether they were studying the pod or looking for a particular dolphin, who knows.
At another west side location they found little RP30 Puka. He was at seal inlet alone.
They decided to do the Ka'ena West trek. They found a little seal, itwas green and chubby. They were not able to tell if it was a male or female and couldn't see if it had tags. The little seal with a big face was on the rocks and didn't give them much to go on. They studied the animal for a long time, but it was getting late. They had to leave before the sun set. Unfortunately they have to report the seal as a U/U.
