07/08/2022 Friday's Dailies.

Todays dailies are brought to you by Tammy, Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 10:55 to 12:35 and there were only Moms and pups today.
On LPB were MO7 and PO7, first snoozing then PO7 went behind Mom to nurse. PO7 then played in front of Mom for a while showing its belly..... but Marilyn couldn't tell its sex yet.  Finally PO7 headed toward the water. MO7 didn't follow until PO7 actually went into the water about 12:08. They were still in the water when Marilyn left.

At first Marilyn did not see MO6&PO6 and she assumed they were in the water. While surveying the
RI coastline she found them about a third of the way between 1BS and 2BS. PO6 nursed then snoozed during which time MO6 didn't move. Finally MO6 rolled over and moved a short distance draping herself partially over a rock. PO6 then started nursing again. PO6 is noticeably smaller than PO7.  And poor MO6 doesn't seem to have much in the way of reserves left.

Tammy had a few free hours this morning so she went looking for weaner Mauna RQ24.  She missed him on her first pass. When she did find him he was completely dry so she knew she missed him. That's the thing about weaners they exploring all the nooks and crannies.  He was tucked away in a good hiding spot.

Team R&B started their day at the bay and spent much of their time looking. Finally they saw a school of fish on ocean side and they spotted RL20 doing his thing, six minute dives, very busy filling his belly.
When they did a recheck later he wasn't around just lots of people everywhere.
Before heading off to an appointment they viewed a big pod of dolphins. They saw a little baby and mom with the pod.

After their appointment they went back to search for more seals. They
spotted two seals on shore snoozing together. There was Kaale and RL42 Leia. Both of them looking "grubby".  At least Kaale isn't being a butthead.
Extra bonus was a huge turtle on shore.

Since they weren't having much luck finding seals they decided to do Ka'ena West even in the rain. To their delight they found their boy RP84 Pe'ekai. He was alone sleeping on the rocks. He is looking great, no new markers, other than getting very very green.

They left Pe'ekai and kept going when they saw a seal in the water bobbing same as yesterday. They ran to get the photo of the mystery seal. They lucked out this time and the seal landed and it was RN14 Kalani. They saw his nb on the right side. So now they are sure the seal from yesterday was not Kaale but RN14.
A couple came over wondering what they were looking at. Team R&B pointed out the seal, it wasn't until Kalani moved that the couple could see him.  Always nice to educate folks about our endangered monk seals.
