Team Billand wishes everyone a Happy New Year.
They found their first critter of the day before 9 am on the westside. There was a beautiful female, sleeping up inland on coral rubble. The sand patch that was there is now coral. They were able to ID RH36 Kawena and she was in a deep snooze.
Then they spotted Kekoa Alii RK72 coming in with the waves. He was looking for a buddy, he covered the entire area looking but somehow missed Kawena in between the rocks. Hmmm that boy needs glasses on to clear his sniffing passages. The waves came crashing in taking Kekoa out to sea.
Meantime Miss Kawena continued to test comfortable, very dry in her little spot on the coral rubble.
Then Team Billand headed over to the outfall. They observed two seals frolicking in the outfall, foraging and fighting, splashing about.
The surf was huge and slamming into the rocks and jetty. It was very dangerous being there on the jetty today, but the surf was gorgeous.
Team Billand watched the two seals, which turned out to be none other than the bosom buddies Ka'ale and Kalani. After an hour they just disappeared not to be seen by Team Billand again.
