Vicki was on the north shore today and spotted a critter in Hauula. Because of the rain she didn't get a positive ID, although our best guess is Sadie RB12.
Then her adventure continued further north where she found Katie K80, then Holokai RG40.
Vicki managed to catch up with the albatross and got a nice shot of one in flight.
Team Billand had checked white plains early morning then went back to the west side. They found RH76 Kala and R3CX about 9:15 am both snoozing on the rocks.
When they were looking around they heard a plop plop, and there they spotted Kekoa coming in quickly. He galumphed over to the two seals but just rolled on his side and went to sleep. Guess he was really in a rush to catch up on his sleep. There was no interaction with him and R3CX and Kala.
RG28 was to the left and looks like he may have spent the night. He was nice and dry and in the same spot with his tags visible.
RH36 Kawena was on lower rocks snoozing alone and totally dry with her tags showing. She was resting peacefully.
RN14 Kalani came in peeked over the rocks, checking it out, and he hauled out. Once he was up rolled on his side and stayed in that position for the day.
Just before noon Robert was checking a couple of other west side beaches when he came across RW02 PvKauai on shore sleeping. They did a recheck in the afternoon and he was still there. They reported him to the hotline.
Team Billand got a text of a seal at Plains so off they went. There they sound Buster RV08 fronting the surf shack
But that wasn't their only find in the area. They spotted "big" girl Pohaku RO28 on shore. The lifeguards had already put a zone for her. She is looking good, healthy and no new markers.
Both seals were called into the hotline.
At 1:30 Team Billand checked out KoOlina and founf RH92 Nalani looking healthy and content on shore at lagoon 3. There were lots of folks about and there was a zone in place with a volunteer on site.
Then it was back to the west side and just before 2 pm they found Ka'ale RH32 alone sleeping on the rocks. He is looking very plump and healthy. Winds were howling a few branches breaking near by, but he was not bothered or affected by them.
Last check and seal of the day was RIP RR70 on high rocks to the left sound a sleep. He was ID'd by the scar above his left eye.
