Vicki's update is from is actually from yesterday. Her email came in after I had logged off for the night. Vicki's first find on Friday was a UU (unidentified unknown) across from Kualoa Ranch. The critter had tags but Vicki couldn't get a photo to read them. She was unable to stay long so she listed this as a UU.
From there Vicki headed up to north shore and found Right Spot R016 at turtle bay. Vicki was told by a volunteer that it was Right Spot.
Further along at the elbow there was an unidentified male alone and very well hidden.
Other than tat Vicki's only other sightings were the albatross.
Marilyn checked out Rabbit Island from the parking lot of Makai Pier on two occasions today. She only saw one seal both times which she is inclined to believe it's the same critter based on it's location. During the first visit the seal was up in the morning glory left of the 1BS. On the second visit the critter was on the sand left of the 1BS. Marilyn believes it to be an adult male with at least one tag, reporting it as a U/M.
Team Billand spent 2 hours at a westside location and upon arrival there were two seals, Kekoa Alii RK72 to the right snoozing and R3CX was to the left of Kekoa. R3CX was in the same spot as yesterday snoozing. While viewing R3CX another seal arrived from the right and up to the rocks and went right to sleep.
Three seals sleeping peacefully when a fourth hauled up on the rocks positioning himself next to R3CX. Team Billand ID'd RN14 Kalani who stayed the despite R3CX's reaction of getting up and flinging his hind flippers in the air.
Team Billand left the site to check other areas. The only other critter they came across was RL42 Leia who was resting alone in peace. Her tags were showing and she is looking nice and plump. They did not stay with her for long as they didn't want to draw any attention to her.
Team Billand returned to check on the group of critters to now find five seals at the location. RH36 Kawena was on lower rocks. She came in looking, putting her fore flippers on the rocks to take a peak. Then she hauled up and rested. Team Billand called it a day to take junior sealette Olivia home.
Melody sent word that Rocky has been hanging around her neighborhood for the last couple of days.
On Friday Melody was out with HMSPO volunteer Diana on the westside when they met up with Team Billand. On their way back to the car Melody got a text from a resident that Rocky was on the beach, and although security had set up a SRA, there were people still getting close by going into the SRA. Melody headed over and when they got there things had calmed up bit.
At sunset they thought Rocky was heading for the water, but she made a u-turn and headed back up to the morning glories. Seems Rocky is enjoying a short staycation. This morning Melody called the hotline to let them know Rocky had spent the night. The adoring fans were gathering when the skies opened up and emptied the beach. Security let Melody know that shortly after Rocky had scooted out during the downpour and swam out into open waters.
