April 9, 2024 Tuesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:14 to 1:58 and there were at least three maybe four seals seen during that time.
Out on the rock flats Lanikai side of LPB was an Unknown Unknown: subadult to adult size, and that about all Marilyn could say. The seal was gone by 12:50.
Momma RF34 Pua and pup were again near the beach at Middle Cliff.  About 1 pm, Marilyn saw a seal haul out and move up around RF34 and pup. Marilyn doesn't know if this was the UU she saw
earlier but can't know for sure. She is labeling this seal a Sub-adult Female. When Pua moved up closer to the cliff the SF moved in the direction of the 3BS. Pua left the SF alone for about 10 minutes but then challenged the SF who immediately headed for the water and was not seen again.
The SF was smaller sub-adult to larger juvenile size, light yellowish tan female belly and two red tags.
After the SF left, Pua and the pup headed back toward the Middle Cliff beach area and the pup moved into the area where the higher tide was bringing waves up. This is the first time Marilyn has seen the pup in the water even though it was never fully submerged and Mom kept a close watch.

Team R&B arrived at a beach and then from afar noticed a seal onshore at electric beach. There was a guy hitting golf balls, and he has been seen in the area before. Team R&B called the hotline, as they could not make it over to electric beach at that time. They went back later to see if the unknown male was there, but he was not.

Team R&B arrived at plains and saw a green seal, slimmer than RL12. Then they checked and thought could it be Rocky RH58? Her familiar white nails on left flipper, little scar and bite marks on chest. She looking good and no tags.
Kudos to the life guards for putting up a great zone. Team R&B filled them in as to who this seal was and a bit about her history.

Team R&B left the area to check for other seals. About 5 minutes after they left they got a call of
another seal. They hurried back and sure enough there was Aukai RL12. The lifeguards were setting up a zone and people were gathering to see this enormous seal.
Team R&B met some good folks, including a nurse who they had met before. She wanted to help which is always nice. They left at 12:30, once everyone was settled in.

At another west side location they found two seals, side by side. Both were getting wet from the high tide.  There was RL08 and RM31 Kai close together. RL08 didn't want Kai so close so he turned and galumphed on the rocks and left. Team R&B was happy they were able to see him.
Kai RM31 was looking around RL08, then a bird landed by him and he got upset and moved his head up and down, like a lizard. The bird moved after RM31 lunged after it.  Then a big wave got to him and he galumphed off.  Lots of action in a short time, lucky they were there to see it.
