April 4, 2024 Thursday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Tammy, Marilyn and Team R&B💕

In yesterday's news department posse pal Kathy O found a seal at Ewa Beach around 8 am. There were signs up and Kathy didn't see any tags. She didn't have any information as to when the seal arrived or which critter this was.  She did go back to the beach around 6 pm and the unknown unidentified seal was gone.

Tammy hiked out to the point with Lesley. It was a slow seal day, in that they only saw two seals today.
RW02 PvKauai was snoozing on the beach and R418 was resting on the rocks.    Meanwhile the Laysan chicks are getting big and stretching their teeny wings.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:15 to 1:00 and with the high winds she didn't stay long.
Only Mom RF34 Pua and pup were seen during that time. At one point the pup started moving towards the water and Mom let the kid know to come back. On day 4, the pup is already "mouthing off" to mom.  In one of the photos Pua's right rear side scar is visible.

After leaving the pier Marilyn checked in at one of the beaches and found RK28 "KC". She hasn't been seen on this side in quite a while. She was ID'd by her multiple cc scars, mobbing scar on her rear dorsal, female belly, no tags, and multiple scars on her ventral side.  Gamma Gayle had arrived and stayed to watch over her.

Team R&B started their day looking for Miss Kala RH76. They did not have much luck.
They did see R3CX Nalu at rest camp.  He was alone on shore near the cabins.

When they got to Kahe they spotted a seal coming in. They were able to ID RL20 Kalua. He came right up on the rocks to rest.

Team R&B got a text letting them know a seal arrived at plains, so they drove over.  Initially they didn't see any critters and then walking over to the right they saw the beautiful Aukai RL12.
Based on footprints someone had walked right up to her, so they decided to hang around for a bit to
make sure no one bothered her.  She was doing fine and her applied N13 bleach was clearly visible. Thank you NOAA.

Heading over to Nimitz they found both RN14 Kalani and R407. They were hanging out on Kermit's Reef literally snoring. Kalani's applied N14 bleach and R407's natural bleach on his left side were visible.

Team R&B headed back to Kahe, and RL20 was gone.  But they did find big boy RH32 Kaale on the rocks. He's looking fat and healthy.
From afar they could see a seal on shore at electric beach but couldn't make an ID; So they decided to make a quick stop and found RL08 on shore sound asleep.

Last stop at another west side location they found RG28 Lefty. He was alone today on the rocks snoozing. His coat was pretty much dry with the high winds today.
