Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:40 to 3:00 and there were a total of five seals and they were all females!
Initially there were three seals on the LPB:
RK37 Huia: adult size, newer coat with gray female belly, two red tags and nb on her lower left side.
RP24 Mohala: juvenile size, new coat, light gray female belly, two red tags and nb on the tip of her LFF.
About 1:45, a weaner hauled out between the S/F and RP24 and galumphed up the beach between them, where she went into snooze mode.
Alone near 3BS was an Adult Female: adult size, newer coat, light gray female belly with lots of sand and two red tags.
Team R&B's first stop was to check on the two ladies. Miss Leina RL70 was way up at the grass. She was starting to move down and it appears she is 95% molted.
Miss Kala RH76 was high up as well. She was snoozing and pretty much alone away from Leina.
Added bonus they spotted their first Plover.
At another west side location there was a seal. They were thrilled tofind R416 Makalii back in the neighborhood on lower rocks. He is looking nice and plump. They also spotted a couple of white terns.
Later in the day they took a drive and found one seal. There was a problem in that the seal was so well hidden in the rocks they had nothing to go on. They did see its flipper but still too hidden to ID. They did notice it is molting, so hopefully tomorrow they can gather more information.
