April 6, 2023 Thursday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:40 to 2:35 and there were six seals on island during her viewing session.
In their usual location at LPB were Mom 4 and PO4. Once again Mom never showed her left side to confirm Sadie's applied bleach. PO4 nursed once during Marilyn's observation.
In the middle of LPB was an Unknown Adult: adult size, lighter ventral but not sure about gender, and two red tags. This seal appeared to have a small nb or scar mid left side and a pit scar on the right side. The latter scar would suggest that it was RK24, but Marilyn couldn't make the call.
Since the U/A was at LPB with Mom & PO4 there wasn't any interaction.
Mom 3 and PO3 were at their spot about 40 feet from the 3BS. PO3 was mostly hidden behind Mom during Marilyns time.
About 40 feet Makapuu side of the 3BS was a Subadult Female: subadult size, older coat, brownish yellow female belly and two red tags.

Team R&B got to secrets and found some very excited people. There was RN14 Kalani who had thrown up a couple of times. The people told Team R&B to stay away, let it be that the seal is very sick. Who then asked why do you think the seal is sick? They showed Team R&B the video of Kalani throwing up bright yellow bile and some worms. HE IS FINE! Seals on occasion barf up stuff, like we do if we eat too much.
They called the hotline and stayed on site until 11:15 when Kalani left. They took the signs down and put them back.

Team R&B headed over to paradise cove. They found RL12 Aukai on shore. She was alone today, none of the boys pestering her.  A volunteer was on site with ropes and signs up.

As they arrived at another west side location they saw the Hokule'a
being towed by another boat heading in the direction of Honolulu.
On left high rocks they found RL08, R3CU, RP30 Puka and RG28 Lefty. They were all grumbling with each other. They finally settled down and rested.

Next stop was the bay, when they arrived there was a seal draped over the front rocks. There was also a homeless guy on the rocks as well. It was RL20 Kalua, the little bugga went from sleep mode to scurrying off to the water.

On their last stop they were thrilled to find RQ24 Mauna. He was resting and was kind enough to show his tag.
