April 15, 2023 Saturday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:30 to 1:35 and there were a total of eight seals on island today. Unfortunately at one point there were also two humans. grrrrrrr

On LPB were Sadie RB12 and PO4. Twice PO$ left mom and went down into the water. Mom stayed where she was an presumably barked by her open mouth Marilyn witnessed. In both cased PO4 returned. At about 1 pm Sadie led PO4 into the surge channel of LPB and they hauled out about 30 minutes later closer to the 1BS side of LPB. They had a nursing session.

RF34 Pua and PO3 were again on the beach in the middle cliff area. PO3 nursed for a while and then
they both galumphed up on the rock flats where they went into snooze mode. You can see Pua's rear right side scar in one of the photos. PO3 seems to be packing on the pounds.

About 50 feet Makapuu side of the 3BS were two seals:
RQ44 Mahina: juvenile size, old coat with lots of green, female belly and 3 red tags.
RK37 Hui'a: adult to subadult size, older coat with yellowish tan female belly, two red tags and NB on lower left side.

Marilyn had been watching a father and son on a single paddleboard heading toward the island. At about 12:50 they landed about 60 feet from RK37. She was very aware of them, to the father's credit as soon as he saw the seals he moved the board and his son in the opposite direction. They stayed for about 15 minutes and left.

On the rock flats near SRI was an Unknown Adult: adult size, dark gray ventral side, but not sure about gender ot tags.

At 12:30 Marilyn noticed a juvenile seal had hauled out down from the 1BS. Unknown Juvenile: juvenile size, unsure about gender because of sand covered belly and unsure about tags.  The U/J was gone when Sadie and PO4 hauled out a short distance away.

Team R&B made the drive to Waikiki to check out PO5. When they arrived the zone was set up and very very spacious for Kaiwi and PO5.  Kaiwi RK96 is big and fat (just like her momma Irma use to be)  PO5 was busy being adorable.

They headed back west and at one of the locations they found RL08. He was alone on high rocks snoozing his day away.

Next stop they were very happy to find RL20 Kalua. He was alone stretched out on the rocks.

After a very long day and lots of driving they made one last stop. Not to mention all the beaches being crowded. They were happy to end their day finding RQ24 Mauna. He was on the rocks alone and looking green.
