02/03/2021 Wednesday Monk Seal Dailies

Anyone on Oahu will know today was not a day to be out looking for seals. Heavy rains, high winds, power outages and down trees, but yet Team Billand was still out.

They found one seal snoozing at tracks. It was Kawika R407 peacefully. There were still people out but waiting in their cars for the weather to pass. One guy jumped out of his car with a giant lens on his camera, took a few shots then back to his car.

The rains let up some, so they headed over to the bay. They didn't see anyone at first the waters were so choppy. Out of nowhere they see a lone seal foraging alone. They tried but were unable to determine who it was. They did see red tags and the seal looks to be an adult. The seal is reported as U/U.  Out on the water was a boobie just chilling in the rough surf.

As a result of the weather Team Billand got to see a little waterfall in the mountain. There was also a work crew picking up the huge boulders and dirt washing on the highway at Makua Cliffs.
