Pohaku RO28 and PO5 are the highlight of the day. Honestly who can resist a Mom and Pup, I just hope people continue to be respectful and listen to the volunteers out there in this heat.
Team Billand was up and at em' before 6 am. When they arrived at the site they were both shocked and worried as they did not see mom or pup. They looked in the water, nothing. They saw footprints in the zone. Finally they see movement in the naupaka, whew! there's mom, but where's the kid?
The kid did a feed, moved further towards water and stopped. Pup made it's way into Mom's wallow, which was very deep. Guess it was comfortable cuz the little one went to sleep.
After eating the little one went to the shallows for a swim and exploring the rocks, playing and having a great time.
Around 2 pm, RN14 Kalani showed up for 20 minutes and check out Pohaku. Well Mom wasn't having it so she barked, he took off.
An hour later RN14 shows up again this time he hung out and came within 12 feet of Pohaku and PO5. Pohaku stared at him, pup was by her still in the water discovering things. When RN14 got closer Pohaku postured with her huge body and very loud vocals.
Before RN14 Kalani headed over to pester Pohaku and PO5 he was seen at a west side location. He must have been resting up for his adventure to check out Mom and pup.
Tammy made it out this morning to visit with Pohaku and PO5 for a couple of hours. What is always nice about times like this, is see nature at it's best but catching up with friends too. Tammy and Team Billand crossed paths today.
Look at this face!
