January 28, 2019 Monk Seal Dailies:

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and a special update from Team T&D.

I'll begin with Team T&D who went to the Big Island for some fun! Of course you know they're going to be looking for seals.  They made time in their schedule to visit Ke Kai Ola and get a tour of the facility. Well of course Miss Tammy went above and beyond and brought them a tray of very delicious personalized seal cookies.  Since photos are not allowed at the facility Tammy sent a photo of the current patients chart.  Thank you Team T&D and enjoy the rest of your trip.

Team Billand had the unfortunate experience of spotting the dead sperm whale that has been in the news lately. The whales' carcass has washed up on shore by Campbells Industrial. I can't imagine the stench, but it's sad that it hasn't gone to it's final resting place.

Team Billand got a call of a seal at KoOlina and there was a huge event going on. When they arrived there was already a zone in place, but it was really small. Team Billand did their best to expand it a little bit but the crowd was huge.
WHY? because American Idol is auditioning. The music is loud, but the seal didn't care. Of course not it was Benny RE74 and Benny doesn't care about nothing, except when another male approaches. Team Billand called the hotline a couple of times and after a couple of hours someone arrived.

On Team Billand's westside checks they found N14 Kalani resting on his belly, chin on the rocks. All his bleaches were visible. He was on his own at this westside location.

Next stop for them they found RW02 PvKauai and Kekoa Alii RK72.  RW02 was resting on lower rocks, entered the water at one point and washed his hind flippers. Apparently this is what seals do when they get poop stuck on them.
Then there was Kekoa Alii was on high rocks to the left and hidden. They tried to get a better view but it was difficult. They did ID his signature scar on the right side of face.

Team Billand left and checked at another nearby beach where they found RIP RR70. He was stretched out on rocks, snoozing alone. He was in the same spot as yesterday.
After leaving RIP they went back to check on RW02 and Kekoa and that is when they found Kaale RH32. His position also made it difficult to ID but sure enough they got sight of his tag. He was very dry and one fat seal.
