Team Billand had a long busy day. They started on the west side at one of the seal hot spot. They spotted a seal coming in hauling out on lower rocks. It's RN14 Kalani, he's alert but settles in. Team Billand stuck around and sure enough they spot a seal foraging doing 5 minute dives. One hour later the seal hauled up on lower rocks to the right cautiously They ID'd RW02 PvKauai, and so did RN14 by snorting at him. All was good there were no fights.
Next stop at another westside beach the see a huge seal moving, but can't ID. They looked from a different angle and now they see there are three seals. RR70 RIP and RL42 Leia were together between the rocks. Little RK88 Puna was up on the rocks getting wet from incoming waves.
Team Billand headed over to do the Ka'ena West Trek. At the 20 they found R3CU alone in a small pond snoozing. He was still there on their return trip home. He is looking fat, happy and healthy. His
tags were visible and his natural bleach on his butt.
Further along their trek they found Ka'ena RO40. Unfortunately Ka'ena has a heavy blue gage line coming from his right corner of his mouth. There was no hook seen, but it was a tough angle. The line had a large metal clip with a lead attached to it. The glare was bad, and the hike was getting dangerous, as the rain was coming.
Ka'ena was resting comfortably on his left side, He was ID'd by his NB on right side, cookie scar on back and to the left. Team Billand texted NOAA immediately of his location. Unsure if much can be done given his location and weather. Let's hope Friday is a nice day.
On Team Billand's way home at 4:28 pm they spotted a seal on shore at the beach park. It was blustery, raining. They got some pictures and are pretty sure it is RK36 but can not be absolutely sure.
