Jan 5, 2019 Monk Seal Dailies: Lesley's Ka'ena Update

I will start with the HIGH LIGHT of the SEASON !!!
As we were walking thru the NARS I saw a "brown rock moving" and said to the girls that's a Black Footed Albatross !!! Documentation was sent immediately to Erika @ Pacific Rim Conservation. It wasn't banded but still a very important happening for "our" KPt colony.

Down in the Main Pool R330 "Squinty" was hauled out on the reef island and was the star of the morning for the tired hikers.

We hiked to Waianae side but didn't see any seals there. Marilyn spotted a Francolin up on a boulder, rarely we get to see them but we always hear them.

On our way back we saw RN58 "Luana" @ 10 Mnts Beach.  More tomorrow

Lots of people out there R330 Squinty
