10-31-2013 DB's Dailies: Kaiwi,Kainoa,Aukai,Kolohe&Duke@RI, Buster@SB, Kea@SB, M&M@WP, Rocky@Kermit's Reef, Kekoa@RR, Irma&T21M@IRQ

At 0635, from the Makapuu Overview I found Kaiwi (RK96) fronting 3BS on Rabbit Island.

When I got to Makai Pier at 0658 I found Kainoa (RN04) at 2BS. He would enter the water at 0812 but was seen my Mark Sullivan playing with Kolohe fronting 2BS later.

At 0730 Aukai hauled out to the mid Middle Cliff area.

Team Littnan were on RI from 0812 until 1000, in hopes of getting a Critter Cam on Kolohe and/or Duke. Though Kolohe would be seen off shore at play neither he nor Duke (RA12) would haul out doing the mission. Duke would haul out to Right Greenery at 1106, and Kolohe (RW22) shortly thereafter , at 1114. Sean did however manage to get an N12 bleach on Aukai, which will be of immense help.

Gayle called at 1003 with the report of an animal at the east end of Sandy Beach. When I arrived at 1018 I found Buster (RV08) . We cordoned him off and he remains.

At 1126 Lesley called with a Hotline report of a small animal trying to haul out to Eternity Beach. The adoring hordes and loose dogs made that an impossibility. When I arrived at 1138 the animal was gone. I spoke with new posse person Alan who confirmed that the animal had an N46 bleach on his back (Kea ,RN46).

At 1537 I found Kea (RN46) on his favorite water front rocks perch at Crappy Cove, Sandy Beach. I cordoned him off and he remains.

Team Billand called at 0649 with the report of M&M (R020) fronting #1707/08, White Plains.

At 0756 they reported Rocky (RH58) at Kermit’s Reef, on the west side of the Nimitz jetty.

At 1346 the Billands reported T21M at Iroquois Point.
At 1441 Barbara called to advise that Eileen had reported Kekoa (RK72) at the Reef Runway.

Team Billand called at 1630 to advise that Clay Gates had reported Irma (R010) at Iroquois Point. He said there was also another animal but it had remained off shore and did not haul out.

Thanks Miss Diane T. for taking many hours with M and M at Plains. Your work and patience is appreciated.

She remains on shore after our 6:40watch.

Kermit continues to be a changed seal after his epic journey...he was a no show yesterday. Miss Irma went to Clay Gates at Iroquios along with T21M. There was a third seal at Irma's site, but it never hauled up per Clay.

Rocky was a surprise at Nimitz Cove. She came slithering up on Kermits Reef from the front of the reef..usually the seals come from the side or the middle, not the front. She been hanging out this area a while lately...I worry as there are many fishermen here...lots of .... hooks.

It was pure joy to find T21M at Iroquios...we hadnt seen him for so long. He is one old dude and getting older, but, he looks good, healthy, big boy. He is so green. Seems alot of the boys are ready to MOLT.

We were told that while we were gone from M and M's site, the other day, folks were in the zone with her. The cabin folks saw, yelled at the idiots. The people stayed, so the cabin guy came over and told the people move out NOW!!

The person told the cabin guy, OH I AM A Zoologist...YEAH RIGHT~!!! The cabin guy finally got the persons out of zone. ZOOLOGIST??? HMMMM. Thanks Cabin guy...you da best. Thanks for keeping M and M safe.

Any one see or hear about Makaiwi R4DF..seems she disappeared again, hope she is all healed and ok. I hope to see her pregnant ONE DAY. I miss her.

No sightings of 2AW yet..hope that old boy is ok as well. He is a very old seal...he used to show up around this time of the year to molt. He should be green to the max.
