10/2/2015 DB's Dailies: Kaiwi,Kea,Kainoa,Kekoa&UM@Rabbit Island, Luana@Hidden Beach, RW02&RIP@Ka'ena Point, Pohaku@Keaau's, RL42@Makua Cliffs, U'ilani@Maili Point

On my first look at Rabbit Island I would find what would later prove to be Kaiwi (RK96) just moving down from the Morning Glory, 40 ft left of 1BS.

On a pan at 0916 I found Kea (RN46) tucked into the base of the cliff, a mid Middle Cliff. I stick with 20 % molted. His right fore flipper appeared bright and white and perfectly normal today.

Three males would arrive to Kaiwi’s location at 0959. They would prove to be Kainoa (RN04), Kekoa (RK72), and the same U/M of the last few days. I was still unable to get an ID. While the boys were all sound asleep , Kaiwi would sneak off at 1300. The guys never had a clue.

Lesley M., called at 0959 to advise that she had found Luana (RN58) at Hidden Beach, and RW02 & RIP (RR70) at the main pool, Ka’ena Point. Tammy T., had been out there also, and sent shots of today’s KP cast.

1211 Team Billand advised that they had gotten a Dana call about an animal at Keaau’s. They would confirm the Pohaku (RO28) ID.

At 1315 the Billands reported RL42 at Makua Cliffs.

At 1503 they found U’ilani (RN36) at Maili Point.

TracyMail brought news that Squinty (R330), a Ka’ena Pt guy, is back on Kauai, and just got a new V7 bleach. It remains to be seen if he’ll head back this way. Only Squinty Knows !

In the Yesterday’s News department our pal Val sent shots from her Kauai trek yesterday. She found a molting KC (RK28) as well as Rocky’s kids, RF58 & RG58. Thank you Val !!!

9/15/2015 DB's Dailies : Kaiwi&U/M@ Rabbit Island, Kolohe@Blowhole, Kimo Kai at AD, Pohaku&Benny@Paradise Cove, RL42@Makua Cliffs

At 0713 I found Kaiwi (RK96) & the same U/M, 20% molted, at the Morning Glory behind Seal Rock Inlet, Rabbit Island. They would remain all day.

Diane Gabriel called at 1122 with a Hotline call about an animal at the Blowhole Cove. When I arrived at 1137 I found Kolohe (RW22). This is his first haul out to this location. I’d last seen him at Crappy Cove, Sandy Beach on 9-7-15.

At 1410 an unknown posse member called with a report of an animal approximately 100 yds east of the AD Wall. When I arrived, at 1420 I found Kimo Kai (RT12). That was quite a shock. This is his first adventure in the SE Quadrant. I cordoned him off, and he remains in snooze mode. He had last been seen ,by Team Billand, at Ranches, on th west side on 9-12-15.

Team Billand checked in at 0658 with the report of Pohaku (RO28) once again at Paradise Cove. Thanks to Chrissy, Melina & Terri for being there. Terri advised the Billands that Pohaku departed, but Benny (RE74) took her place.

At 1312 the Billand found RL42 at Makua Cliffs.

Our pal Val checked in from Kauai with a shot of Rocky’s pup (RG58), sporting his new V58 bleach.

9/11/2015 DB's Dailies: Kaiwi,Kainoa,Aukai,Cass&U/M@RI, Rocky & Buster@Hanauma Bay, RL42@Makua Cliffs

On my first look at Rabbit Island, from the Makapuu Overview I found what would prove to be Kaiwi (RK96) just hauling out to the water front rocks of Seal Rock Inlet.

Right behind her at 0722 came Kainoa (RN04). Both went to snooze mode.

When I got back to Makai Pier at 0830 both Kaiwi & Kainoa were still right where I’d left them, but they had now been joined by what would turn out to be an U/M, just beginning to molt (1%). I was never able to ID this animal, though he was there all day. Maybe tomorrow ?????

At 0958 Jack (At The Bay) called with the report of 2 animals on the left side ledge at Hanauma Bay. When I got down there at 1030 I found Buster (RV08) in the company of Rocky (RH58) ! Jack would call again at 1145 to advise that both had entered the water. Yet another call from Jack at 1308 advised that both had attempted to haul out to the beach, but the adoring hordes would not allow it. I went to HB and spent the afternoon observing from on top, but never saw anybody.

Speaking of Rocky... while she was hangin’ with Buster, Val Bloy spent time with Rocky’s son (RG58) on Kauai today.

Back at RI, at 1223 I found Aukai (RL12) hauling out to join Kaiwi,Kainoa & the UM.

On a pan at 1254 on a pan I found Cass (RG06) hauling out to the left end of the beach on RI.

Team Billand called at 1225 with the report of RL42 at Makua Cliffs.
