10-22-2013 DB;s Dailies: Irma@MB, Kolohe,Kaiwi,Duke&Kainoa@RI, Kea@SB, RW02&Luana@Mokuleia, R5AY@Hauula, La'akea&Kaikaina@TB, Kerby,Ka'ena&RK36@KP

When Irma showed up at Sandy Beach the last couple of days I was hopeful that she was headed west. Wrong.................AGAIN ! At 0600 I found Irma (R010) waiting for me at the bottom of the hill at Makapuu Beach. I cordoned her off and she remained at dark.

There have been a couple of days of dealing with Unknown at the Rocky Right Beach end of Rabbit Island. Today the question was answered. Once again I found 2 critters at 0740, up in the grass at the right end of RI. They were basically invisible from the pier, so I moved to Kaupo Beach Park. At 1052 I finally got the answer. It proved to be Kainoa (RN04) and Duke (RA12).

At 0835 I found Kaiwi (RK96) fronting 2BS on Rabbit Island.

On a pan at 0858 I found Kolohe (RW22) newly arrived at the far left end of RI.

Well.... it was almost a no Kea (RN46) day, but at 1642 Kathy Sagum called with the Kea at Crappy Cove report. Gayle and I had checked numerous times through the day, with no luck. Thanks Kathy ! We cordoned him off and he remained at dark.

At 1148 Diane Tekai called with the report of RW02 mid way between the Mokuleia pup site and Camp Erdman.

Team Billand got skunked on the west side travels, so in desperation Barbara did the Ka’ena Pt trek. At 1416 she reported Kerby (RW08) and Ka’ena (RO40) at the end of the world. On her trek out Barbara found RK36 at the 20 min. mark. Also Team Billand spotted 3 whales. It’s the first reports I’m aware of on Oahu this season !!

Diane Gabriel checked in a 1447 with a plethora of new info. Just as Diane T reported earlier she found RW02 toward Camp Erdman, and she also found Luana (RN58) on the beach, to the right of the KP parking lot.

Diane G also advised that Karen Turner found R5AY near Candy Green’s house in Hauula, as well as La’akea (RK82) at Right Spots Spot , and Kaikaina (RL54) at the elbow, Turtle Bay. Thank you Karen!
