Marilyn visited Kaimana Beach this morning between 10 am and 12 noon. 

After she arrived there she got a message that RP20 was closer to Kapahulu Groin so she walked over. RP20 is a female seal from Kauai that R&B have been seeing frequently on the west side since Aprtil 5th. Smaller size, sweet face, two red tags, female belly and small line scar on lower left nick area. There was an SRA set up and a monitor on site.

Marilyn returned to Kaimana Beach where R416 Makli'i was snoozing on the down slope of the beach. Marilyn could see the N34 applied bleach that was applied last Thursday on Rabbit Island, but it was hard to read.  Then RK24 Bruno hauled out to visit with R416. RK24's N33 applied bleach on his right side was easily visible.

Then Marilyn wandered over to OCC to try and get a better view of RK96 Kaiwi and her pup PO8. The pip was in the water and mom was on the beach. Mom vocalized several times and then finally entered the water for a swim with the pup. RK24 came looking for them, but did not see them in the water and left, hauling out later near the life guard stand. Kaiwi and her pup look good. 

Marilyn also viewed Rabbit Island from 12:50 to 2:06 pm and there were seven seals seen during that time.

On LPB were MO3 and her pup PO3. MO3 is looking thinner, while PO3 is growing. Marilyn was able to see PO3's red Allflex tag and applied 3 bleach. She observed one nursing session and no swimming.

Just as Marilyn started viewing RF34 Pua and her pup PO5 were hauling out between the 1BS and 2BS after a swim. PO5 moved up behind mom and she didn't see much more of PO5. Marilyn did see the top of the applied 5 bleach on the pup.

RK38 Hali'a and her pup PO4 appeared to have just started a swimming session when Marilyn started viewing. They didn't haul out until 1:30 pm. Both mom and pup seem fine. PO4's red Allflex tag was visible but not the applied 4 bleach.

Out on the rock flats between the SRI channel and RRB was a Sub-adult Female: larger sub-adult size, older coat, yellow female belly with some green and at least one red tag. The SF was in the same place that she reported an UU yesterday, probably the same seal.

Team R&B searched as much of the west side that they could. Seems many of the seals have left the west side and are visiting the east side.  

They spotted an adult seal foraging off the jetty and then off the Heiau. It had red tags and lots of green, line scar on top of its head. They believe this is RL20, but just wasn't sure.

Next after much searching they finally found Miss Kala RH76. She
was alone snoozing near seal inlet.

On the lower rocks was sweet little RU12, also snoozing.

Then Team R&B saw a turtle washed up on the rocks, and the next wave took him off.  Nature is amazing.

Marilyn had an appointment in Honolulu this morning so she stopped by Kaimana Beach on her way. The lighting at 9:!5 am wasn't great. RK96 Kaiwi and her pup PO8 were having a nursing session while Marilyn was there. Both seem fine. An Unknown seal was cruising the shore, Marilyn was unable to stick around to get an ID. (RK24 has been seen in the area on Sunday). 

The beach is entirely fenced off except for a small section near the

wall down from the walkway and along the side of the Natatorium.

After her appoint Marilyn went and viewed Rabbit Island from 11:58 am to 1:27 pm. There were eight seals seen during her viewing session. 

Not far from each other near the LPB channel were four seals:

MO3 and her pup PO3. Marilyn saw at least one feed. They later moved a little further up the beach.

Adult Female: large adult size, female based on yesterdays' sighting.

She moved around a fair amount, but did not seem to challenge MO3 and PO3 or the nearly by Unknown Adult.

The Unknown Adult was small adult to sub-adult size, an apparent scar on the right rear side, no info on tags or sex.

When Marilyn first starting viewing she could not find RK38 and PO4. At 12:27 pm they hauled out on the Makapuu side of Middle Cliff beach. PO4 nursed and then went partially behind mom. Marilyn could easily see RK38's neck scar when she was nursing the pup.

Between the 3BS and SRI was RF34 Pua and her pup PO5. Pua stayed mostly hidden among the waterfront rocks, but Marilyn did see her right rear scar. PO5 did at least one nursing session.

At the mouth of the SRI channel was a sub-adult/adult size seal that turned out to be R416 Makali'i: sub-adult size, no tags, male belly with dark scars and patches, pit scar near LFF.

At 12:59 pm a Juvenile Female hauled out of the SRI channel and moved up the beach. Larger juvenile size, old coat with dark patches under the eyes and light female belly with some green. No info on tags. Later R416 moved up the beach and rested near the JF.

Team R&B started on the west side. They were happy to find Miss

Kala RH76. She was alone resting on the rocks and is nice and fat. She was still there later in the day, but will probably leave due to the high tide.

You never know what Team R&B are going to see when they are out there. Today it was two moths just about to have an intimate moment.

They made their way over to plains. Today there was only one seal set up in a zone. It was Mr. R407 Kawika. They were hoping the others would show up, but after waiting around for a while they headed out.

Making their way back to the west side they checked and found RU12. Happy to find him. They noted he has a small nick on his face on the right side.
