The day began with Kolohe (RW22) up in the Morning Glory, 40 ft left of 1BS, on Rabbit Island. When I got back to Makai Pier at 0922 I found that Duke (RA12) had joined Kolohe. They were now both at the top of the beach front incline, 60 ft left of 1BS.
Posse members, Alice and Glen called at 1140 reporting that they had seen a swimming seal as they passed the area between Makai Pier and the first houses of Waimanalo. I checked the area from the roadside for an hour, but never found anybody.
Rachel called from Diamond Head at 0924 to report that she had spent the morning with a totally naked Rocky (RH58) at the showers. At 0924 Rocky entered the water, in Rachel's presence. I've gotten no further reports.
Tracy provided some really happy moments for me today. She advised via email that Makaiwi (R4DF), last seen at Diamond Head on 7-15-11, was sighted on 7-29-11 on the Big Island. It appears as though she is making the same trek that she made back in 2010. Sorry, there were no photos.
Some folks were at the site checking this princess out with us. They thought she was pretty too. And this little girl, wanted to go in the bunker there. When she did, she asked me to go in too, as the view was great, we were hidden from Makaiwi, and it was totally shaded, even cold in the bunker. Pretty amazing. The little girl Sarah, was totally into Makaiwi and I kept telling her, wait till she turns, you will see her sweet face. We sat on the sand together, waiting patientily for Makaiwi to turn and when she finally did, Sarah was so excited, she was yelling. It was sweet to see this kid enjoying Makaiwi's Spirit....Oh I am so happy she is back home on Oahu for us to observe again.
This precious little seal, came into our lives on May 11, 2010, at Hau Bush. She was so skinny then, so green. We watcher her grow up, molt at Nimitz Beach and Ewa Beach. We sat with her for hours daily till one day, she left Oahu on Oct 6th 2010. We last saw her at Campbell Industrial Park. We truly missed that seal...she is quite a charmer. All fall in love with her when they meet her on shore. For me, she is my SOUL.
There are a couple of other pieces of good news. Tracy advised that Makaiwi (R4DF), who has been on the Big Island for some time now, and was last seen there on Sunday, was seen yesterday on Maui. Coming Home ???? We shall see. Keep your eyes open everyone the cutey is heading back our way! APB and I want a call when she's spotted because I want to visit with her.
