2/28/2017 DB's Dailies: Kawena@Rabbit Island, Right Spot@Kaupo Beach Park, RW02@Nanakai Bch,RIP,Kekoa,W02,RN14&Kerby@Maili, Benny@Secrets,

A call from posse member, Pam, at 0733 brought word of a large animal at Kaupo Beach Park. When I arrived at at 0739 I found Right Spot (R016) snoozin’ on the beach. The Hotline was notified and HMMA personnel responded.

Rabbit Island was once again bare, until 1141 when what would prove to be Kawena (RH36) hauled out of Seal Rock Inlet and moved up to snooze away the day in the grass.

At 0929 Team Billand reported RW02 at Nanakai Beach, Maili. He would depart around 1006.

The Billands next found RIP (RR70) in Maili At 1006 Kekoa (RK72) would join him.

Next came RW02 and RN14 who hauled out at 1358.

Kerby (RW08) was the last Maili animal to arrive, at 1500.

At 1654 the Billands reported Benny (RE74) at Secrets.

2/27/2017 DB's Dailies: Kawena@Rabbit Island, RW02&Kekos@Nanakai Beach, Pohaku@Makaha, RIP,RN14,RK36Kolohe,RW02&Benny@Maili, Buster@White Plains,

Though I was at Makai Pier at 0730 I was batting zero for both Rabbit Island and Kaupo Beach Park.

I had panned the RI beach front a million or a million& a half times through the day, but on a routine pan at 1319 one of the many water line rocks, right of 1BS looked just a tad different. At 1323 the rock’s hind flippers moved. Eureka !!! finally, I had an animal. It would be 1530 before I finally saw Kawena’s (RH36), N36 bleach. She tried to climb an impossible cut in the beach, from her waterfront rocks location, but couldn’t make it. She settled down for another snooze amongst the rocks.

Team Billand had yet another bumper crop day on the west side. At 0626 they reported RW02 at Nanakai Beach. He would depart at an unknown time, and they would see him again in Maili at 1426.

At 0852 the Billands reported Pohaku (RO28) at the Clausmeyer’s end of Makaha Beach. There were some unleashed dog problems, but Pohaku has remained all day.

At 1015 they reported the arrivals of RIP (RR70) & RN14 at Maili.

 At 1043 RK36 & Kolohe (RW22) would join them.

Benny (RE74) arrived to the same location at 1412 to join the rest of the boyz.

When the Billands went back to recheck Nanakai at 1412 they reported that RW02 was gone, but Kekoa (RK72) was now there.

White Plains lifeguards called the Billands at 1530 to advise that they had Buster (RV08) on the beach.
