Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:30 to 1:35 and there were five seals on island today.
As usual Sadie RB12 and PO4 were on LPB. When Marilyn arrived PO4 was nursing. Then at 11:56 Sadie and PO4 entered the water. Then about a half hour later they hauled out in the same location and PO4 began nursing, then a snooze. Although PO4 showed its belly during one snooze, Marilyn could not determine its gender.
Between 1BS and 2BS was weaner PO3. This is the furthest in the Lanikai direction the weaner has been seen. PO3 played with a piece of dead coral and was mouthing it for a while. Typically weaner behavior. PO3 went back in the water about 1:10 heading in the Makapuu direction and hauled out 60 feet of the 2BS.
On the rock flats Makapuu side of SRI was an Adult Female: adult size, light greenish-gray female belly and at least one tag. Marilyn is reasonably sure this is the same A/F that was at LPB yesterday.
At 1:06 Marilyn realize a small seal had hauled out of SRI. She believes this is the same seal from yesterday in the same location. Today she is pretty sure this is RQ44 Mahina: juvenile size, green female belly and three tags on rear flipper.
Team R&B started their day finding one seal at a west side location. There was RM31 Kai alone at seal inlet. Since their usually stomping grounds have been a snooze lately they decided to change things up and check out some other areas.
Well good they did finding their favorite butt-head RH32 Kaale. He was not alone, he had companywith girlfriend RL74 Kami.
Then they noticed a little green seal from afar. They went to check it out and there were some kids heading towards the seal. When they got closer they could see a tag and it was RQ24 Mauna. They were happy to see her again and also keeping the kids away.
If that wasn't enough not far from Mauna RQ24 were two more seals. They were resting together. Right away they knew the male was RG40 Holokai from his natural bleach on hind flipper. Holokai's companion was RK42 a cute female from outer islands.
Lastly they went back to check on RM31 and now he had company. There was RH76 Kala who had to put up with him. He climbed on her and she took off and Kai followed.
They heard seals to the right in the cove. Checking it out there were two seals. One was RP30 Puka but they didn't recognize the other seal with him. The seal appeared to be close to the same size and reported as an Unknown Subadult.
