Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:15 to 3:30 and there ultimately three seals on island today.
The two weaners were together on the rock flats of LPB during her entire viewing session. Marilyn suggested the weaner in front has a faint NB mid right side. That would suggest this is RS34, but she could not confirm.
About 2:30 she noticed a small seal had hauled out from SRI. It never showed its ventral side or rear flippers so Marilyn did not know its sex or tags. She described it as a juvenile to small subadult so it was reported as an unknown/unknown.
Team R&B first find today was the lovely RH76 Kala. Sometimes she looks fat and other times not so fat. It could go either way depending on position or if the fat is in between the rocks.
They stayed at the site for a while waiting for the seals to show up. While waiting they saw the coast guard pass by circle and came back, lowered down close to the water. Maybe a shark, maybe they looking for someone.
Finally they spotted a seal who was in the water. IT had cc scars that let them ID Lefty RG28. He was foraging and doing 6 to 7 minute dives. He never hauled out.
At another west side location they found a seal on the rocks. There was Miss Lei Ola RH48 alone snoozing on her back. Sure she was relieved there were no males to bug her. Based on the looks of it, she may be starting her molt soon.
