Marilyn and friend Pat viewed Rabbit Island from 12:25 to 2:25 and there were three seals on island.
There was also 2 kayakers who landed to pole fish.
Marilyn really can't tell the newly tagged weaners apart, so for now they are labeled as weaner A & B. Based on the location Weaner A is most likely PO4. She showed up on the rock flats of LPB at 1:32. She is weaner size and shape, with two red tags. She may have an applied bleach on her right dorsal side.
They saw Weaner B soon after they started viewing, but then she went into a tide pool. She showed up again around 2 pm about two-thirds of the way between 3BS and SRI. She hauled out onto the beach. Her two red tags were visible but did not see her ventral size.
Soon after they started viewing a Juvenile Female hauled out at SRI: juvenile to small subadult size, cream colored female belly with some green and two red tags.
Team R&B started their day at the bay. Much of their time was spent trying to male an ID of two seals.
Finally the female was Kala RH76 in the company of male RL08. He went from subadult to man, he was sniffing her out and she whooped him.
Heading over to the cliffs they spot an adult male seal, snoozing in a small pond. Some waves gently rolled in and the male seal raised his head. Ah ha ! They see the big cc scar on his back, when they realized it was R407 Kawika after he lifted his head. They were both thrilled and surprised to see him.
Their last find of the day was at another west side location. There was Kai RM31 in the same spot as yesterday. His coat was dry and he looked just fine.
