06/30/2022 Thursday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Tammy and Team R&B💕

Tammy went back to Ka'ena Point to look for the weaner RQ24 Mauna.  While she was looking she spotted a seal swimming down the coast. Luckily they got his applied bleach in one of the photos. It was RG28 Lefty. They later found him hauled out.
And yes she was able to find Mauna RQ24 being thee adorable weaner neaner.

Team R&B has some technical type problems, actually a variety.  The computer has problems, they lost power, and their network was down. When power was restored their router went kaput. Thank goodness they only had one seal to report.
They also had appointments today so they weren't out for very long.

In the morning before their appointment they found R3CX Nalu on the rocks. He was alone and resting peacefully.
After their appointments they went back out in the afternoon and found Nalu same location but on mid high rocks. He was on high alert as if something was coming or was there. After a bit he galumphed down to lower rocks again. He settled in and that is where he stayed.

06/29/2022 Wednesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team T&D, Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Team T&D hiked to the point and only found four seals. Makes you wonder where the seals are hiding, especially since Team R&B hasn't had much luck lately.

They first found RG28 Lefty keeping company with RL74 Kami.
Their next find was Ka'ena RO40. They first spotted him hauling out on some flats. Later they saw him at the point telescoping and checking our every nook and cranny. He was probably looking for females.
Lastly they found R330 Squinty.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:05 to 3:00 and there seven seals on island today.
Further Lanikai direction on LPB was MO6-PO6. They were mostly snoozing during her time. They seems to be doing just fine.
When Marilyn first arrived she didn't see MO7-PO7. Seems Mom and Pup went for a swim, then about 1:30 she saw them haul out onto middle beach of LPB. As usual PO7 spent much of its time behind mom, but Marilyn did see a nursing session.

About 40 feet Lanikai side of the 2BS were two seals:
RK37 Hui'a: subadult size, greenish tan female belly, two red tags and NB on lower left side. She was near a A/M: adult to subadult size, darker coat, gray male belly and two red tags. He and RK37 had some interactions.
On rock flats behind and Makapuu of the SRI was an:
U/J: juvenile size, at least one red tag and a yellowish belly. Unsure of its gender.

Team R&B headed out early this morning and started on their searches. They found RH48 Lei Ola on the rocks, dry and snoozing. She was alone. except for the flies were bugging her, especially around her face.

Their next stop to another west side location where they found RP30 Puka. He was alone on the rocks.
Little guy was sleeping soundly.

By surprise they came across RP84 Pe'ekai. This is the first time in a while they have seen him away from Ka'ena West. He was on the rocks snoozing peacefully.

Team R&B decided to make the Ka'ena West trek. They found a male resting. They studied him for a bit, he had tags but couldn't read them or make and ID. They believe it to be Nalu R3CX.
They came across another male, who they believe to be RW02 PvKauai. He has a small wound on his mouth, doesn't appear to be anything serious.

After leaving Ka'ena West they made one more stop. They were thrilled to find RL42 with her son Kai RM31. Both were on shore sleeping peacefully. It would be so cool if RP30 was there too.

06/28/2022 Tuesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Gamma Gayle and Team R&B💕

Gamma Gayle was entertained today but something you don't see everyday. Kaiwi RK96 and the Aukule bait ball had quite the interaction, but its not what you think. A bait ball slammed into her as she slept close to the water. She was stunned and not happy that she was woken up but them. The bait ball came up to shore and continue to irritate her three more time. Poor Kaiwi who is molting couldn't catch a break between the fish and pigeons bothering her during this molting period.
This has got to be one of the more unusual things I have ever seen, it was like lunch being delivered but she wasn't interested.  I do know if a couple of the west side thieves were around they wound have been in heaven.  THANK YOU Gayle for sharing.

Team R&B spent the day searching and searching, batteries charged and eager to go, but they had another slow day.  They spent time looking out over the ocean, they caught a glimpse of a seal swimming by. They tried but could not get an ID, and the critter didn't give them anything to help out.
While out on the shore line they watched as a Dad and his little girl (and leashed dog) flew a beautiful butterfly kite.

At another west side location was the only other seal they found today. There was RP30 Puka who was having a hard time in the big surf. It was also very windy so that added to his troubles.
He came right into the rocks and hauled up, glaring at something. They walked around to see what it could be, and there was a big baggie flopping in the wind.

Must be something in the air today, but as Team R&B were on their way to dinner (more in a min) they saw a fire hydrant suddenly shoot water into the air.  Well what can I say, certainly weird things happening today.
HOWEVER - I would like to wish Team R&B a very Happy 53rd Anniversary. !!!
