Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 2:15 to 3:25 and there were two seals on island today.
The two critters were fairly close together about 30 feet Makapuu side of the 3BS.
A/M: adult size, yellowish tan male belly and two red tags.
Nearby was a J/F: juvenile size, gray tan female belly and two red tags.
They moved up with the rising tide. Marilyn noted there was no sign of Aukai Rl2, hopefully she'll show up this weekend.
Team R&B first stop they found RN14 Kalani and RL08 having words and posturing for positions. RL08 wanted his spot to the right. Kalani after having some words ended up on the left.
RH32 Kaale who had been at the outfall for a bit came over to the area and tried for a spot.
RN14 Kalani wasn't happy about his arrival and kept barking at his old buddy. Kaale attempted to land at least five or more times and gave up. Kaale left the site.
Seems Kalani has a new buddy RL08 and is a little possessive.
Once again they were treated by a show put on by the dolphins, so many of them. They noticed one had an orange baggie on his dorsal, so sad. When the dolphins showed up they people in the area went nuts, following them, which caused the dolphins to go further out.
Team R&B stopped at the bay where the waves were covering the rocks looking like snow. They carefully looked at the area and didn't see any critters. As they were turning to leave, they spotted a huge beautiful seal high up in the rocks. There was the lovely RH48 Lei Ola snoozing in the only dry spot available. They stayed around as there were some people coming by, thankfully none of them saw Lei Ola. She was well hidden in a good spot.
Then on their way home they watched by the bus stop in Makaha, the waves coming up over the wall. They pulled over and the water was coming up onto the street. They waited and saw some big swells come in, cars were splashing through the salt water (not good for your car). Apparently this happens often in this spot.
