Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:50 to 1:15 and there were three seals on island today.
Once again they were all on the rock flats between 3BS and SRI.
Closest to the 3BS was a U/A: adult size, darker coat, unsure about gender or tags. This may be the adult male Marilyn saw yesterday. After the U/A rolled onto its belly it moved into a tide pool and was barely visible.
Next along the rock flats was RK37 Hui'a: subadult size, green female belly and two red tags. Her NB on her lower left side was visible, thank goodness.
On the water front rock flats nearer SRI was an A/F: adult size, yellowish female belly with some green, two red tags. Marilyn wondered if it could be RF34 returning to molt. This female was considerably bigger than RK37.
Team T&D hiked Ka'ena Point today, and first stopped to see Mom Luana RN58 and Mauna PO5. Luana was nursing the pup, this makes day 40 close to weaning.
Down the beach they found R407 Kawika. Next find was Lina RL98 in her new favorite spot. She was easy to spot with her white belly shinning bright (like a diamond )
At the point they found RN04 Kainoa who was keeping a close eye on R604 Kiane.
On the walk back they saw Squinty R330 in BG's pool. They checked another spot and luckily found Holokai RG40 hauled out on the flats. It's the first time seeing him at this location.
Team R&B was out checking for seals and saw lots of dolphin in the bay.
Finally at another west side location they found a seal on lower rocks. It was Nalu R3CX resting looking good, healthy and robust. When they did a re-check R3CX was gone.
But there was another seal. It was RN14 Kalani resting on his own.
