05/11/2022 Wednesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:30 to 3:15 and there were five seals on island today.
About 25 feet Makapuu side of the 3BS was a J/F: juvenile size, light silver female belly and two red tags. She might have a dark scar on her lower left lip. Marilyn believes this to be the same J/F she saw in the same location on the 9th.
Another 25-30 feet Makapuu direction was an A/M: adult size, dark gray male belly and at least one red tags.
Near the A/M was RK37 Hui'a: subadult size, yellowish-tan female belly and two red tags. Marilyn did see he signature NB on her lower left side.
Closer to SRI was a S/F: subadult to adult size, greenish female belly and two red tags. Looking more like an adult, but unsure.
On the sand up from SRI was an U/S: subadult size, unknown gender or tags, scar on right side about 1/3 in front of rear flippers. This "may" be RK24 Wawamalu/Bruno based on the scar, but without knowing if its a male its reported as an unknown.

Team R&B didn't have a lot of time to be on the beach today so they made a couple of quick stops.
Their first stop they spotted RL20 Kalua foraging. He was going for broke, this is probably why these little ones are found sound asleep later in the day. They did their best to get some photos of him.

While at an appointment Barb went exploring on the grounds and found many white terns. Finally they found a new born chick, and Mom covering it up.  While sitting on a bench at another section, right above her head was a chick, and mom coming with fish for lunch.  Then she saw the mom tucking something under her belly, it was an egg, another soon to be chick.

After their appointment they headed back and made a couple of stops. One beach they saw a seal just
hauling in on shore. It was KG54 at 85% done molting. She looks thin compared to their other visits, but who knows, maybe not eating for a few days thinned her out.
One of the homeless guys came out, and asked about the seals. They informed him and told him not to feed or touch, just look.  He was good about it and said he liked seeing the seal.

They didn't have much time to look, but they made a stop at another west side location. They did manage to find RP84 Pe'ekai. He was on lower rocks alone and resting.
