Dave and Tammy hiked out to Ka'ena Point and met up with Lesley at the point. They compared notes and all saw the same seals. They got to visit with Mom Luana RN58 and PO5 and there was some drama in the making. There was Lefty RG28 and Kawika R407 having some words while Luana and PO5 watched the boys.
Their next find was Ka'ena RO40 enjoying the beach all to himself.
As they arrived at the point Squinty R330 and PvKauai RW02 were having some words. Squinty was the aggressor and barked at RW02 several times. PvKauai lurked around for a bit and then he left.
Team R&B started out at the bay and spent quite a bit of time looking out over the water. They saw two seals frolicking by the shoreline at the rest camp side. There were people taking photos and some were in the water snorkeling. Team R&B could not make any ID from the distance, and then the seals disappeared.
One of the seals came to area just before they were giving up, they had been there for two hours. The seal was an adult with two red tags and no obvious markers seen. They reported it as an unidentified unknown U/U. They were thinking it might be Kala RH76 but there was nothing to go on.
From there they headed over to another beach and were delighted to find Huakai KG54. She is 100% molted and her big scar on upper chest was visible. Of course her grey tag is a give away too!
Next stop they found Miss Lei Ola RH48 who was in a small pond in the hot sun. Her molt is coming along nicely, there were little fish picking at her body while in the pond.
Heading over to another stop they noticed the swimmers weresuddenly out of the water. The lifeguard came on his quad and that's when they noticed the sharks in the water. Two sharks came came close to shore with such speed they thought they it must be chasing something. People were frantically taking photos.
While watching all the excitement with the sharks, they spotted a seal on shore. They walked out and found Da Benny RE74 with Leia RL42. The couple were there and thankfully the lifeguards had put up three signs. In the end it took them all day to find four seals, and a couple of sharks.
