11/4/2017 Monk Seal Dailies: Kea N46, Aukai RL12, Kekoa Alii RK72, Ka'ale RH32, R3CU, Ka'ena RO40, Buster V08

Today's dailies are brought to you by Posse Pal Vicki H, Team Billand, Marilyn, Lesley and Gayle.  (Lesley's full report is part 2 of the dailies).

An email from Vicki brought news that yesterday she was at the blowhole and spotted a cute critter with very distinguishable natural bleach marks, and did get a tag number N47.  It's Kea!  So good to see the little critter!  We know he was on Rabbit Island last week.  Thank you Vicki.

Team Billand spotted an adult seal foraging doing 6 minute dives at Campbells.  Seal had a ding on mid shoulders, a small bleach mark on left butt area, nice white muzzle with a tinge of green. Barbara believes it's RL12 Aukai since she is known to forage in this area quite a bit.

Next stop for Team Billand was at Maili where they found Kekoa Alii RK72 snoozing the same place as the last two days (mid rocks). He barely moved and still can't tell if he's molting. On a recheck after lunch he was still there.

Ka'ale RH32 was away from Kekoa on the lower rocks. He has a beautiful new coat, tags showing, resting like he he didn't have a care in the world. Still there in the afternoon only this time he was on his back.

Marilyn did the Ka'ena Point Trek with Diane and Lesley after visiting Camp Erdman.  At 10:12 am while at the point they came across two seals, one on the rocks west of the main pool and one on the rocks in the middle of the main pool. The seal on the rocks west of the pool was R3CU ID'd by his 3CV tag, who looks like he molted recently. Marilyn noted she thought she last saw him on 7/1/2017.
The seal in the middle of the main pool was Ka'ena RO40. He did a fair amount of sneezing, he looks like he will molt soon.

Finally mail from Gayle reports Buster V08 at Sandy Beach today. He arrived late, and a volunteer was on site. Gayle stayed with him until 18:30 when he moved up to the naupaka to sleep.
