Team Billand checked the beaches along Tracks and Electric Beach at 5:30 am and cam up empty. When they got to Campbells they spotted a seal with a mint green snout, clean coat foraging doing 5 minute dives. With their best seal instincts they're calling it as Aukai feeding and on the move.
Next stop Maili and lo and behold they found Lei Ola RH48 at her spot mid rocks, alone snoozing, unfortunately still with hook. While checking on Lei Ola they spotted a second seal foraging off shore doing 5 minute dives. They were able ID RIP by the ding on his back. On their afternoon check RIP landed on the lower rocks.
Team Billand found da Benny RE74 at Makaha Surfing Beach. He was on shore and there were lots of people around. Volunteer Natalie was due to arrive according to Officer Kearns. Lifeguard brought out 5 orange flags to mark off Benny. Both Officer Kearns watched a surfer approach from the right side and stand in front of Benny.
Neither could get her attention to move, which she eventually did. Some people are clueless at times, she's lucky da Benny wasn't in cruise mode or she might have been chased back in the water... just saying. Barbara did her walk out to the 40 minute mark and didn't see any seals, but on the way back Benny was still there.
Posse pal Gayle found Right Spot R016 swimming into the keiki pool at Kaupo. She spent the day there and left at 16:30. Gayle hung out for a bit to see if she would return and was able to capture a beautiful rainbow over Rabbit Island. Gayle also noted there were two critters on Rabbit Island today.
