11/13/2017 Monk Seal Dailies: RN14, Lei Ola RH48, RIP RR70, Kekoa Alii RK72, Three Rabbit Island Critters, Right Spot R016, Buster V08

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Posse pal Gayle.

Team Billand started out early doing the rounds and initially came up empty, and so was their gas tank. After filling up their gas tank they went around again and got lucky. First find Lei Ola at Maili, now with more light they could see she was in her regular spot as if she stayed through the night.  She was on the right, sleeping but seemed more alert today at times even grumpy. Perhaps she is getting ready for her molt. Team Billand updated NOAA.

Next critter at Maili was RN14 he was seen off shore, then hauled in alone, cautiously and up on the lower rocks. During their afternoon check, he made his way to Lei Ola and they were resting quietly.

Team Billands next find was a nice surprise RIP RR70. He was off shore with the others foraging, busy diving. He hauled in on the high rocks, he's still looking skinny. It's been a long time since Team Billand seen him. I hope he hangs around under their watchful eye for a bit.\

Next in line Kekoa Alii RK72 joins RIP. He galumphed up on the rocks and RIP vocalized to him as he arrived. They finally settled in for a long days rest.

Posse Pal Gayle spent time observing Rabbit Island today. She found three critters, unable to get an ID on any of them. Interesting note was Gayle did see a "raft" on the island, without any people. She called the DLNR to report and they were aware, informed her there was a group out there doing work.  "Ya done good Gayle"

Gayle had a busy morning, first she saw an animal sleeping at Sandy Beach (Makapuu end of the beach) but as she got there and started talking with a tour guide with tourist, she didn't have a chance to ID this animal.
As they were talking she saw a second seal in the water approaching. The seal in the water was lingering and swam towards the sleeping seal, then changed direction. Gayle followed it until it came close to shore near the 2nd lifeguard stand. She was able to ID this animal as Right Spot.  Then who was the sleeping seal ???  Gayle checked and confirmed it was Buster.  Right Spot did move again but still kept her distance from Buster.  Right Spot left at 17:30 and Buster remains. Gayle left at 18:20.
