At 6 am Team Billand found da Benny sleeping at his favorite naupaka alone at Makaha Beach. He hardly did any movement on this blustery windy day. Winds were about 40 mph, with palm branches flying through the air. The hotline was called.
At 6:47 am Barbara happen to see a silouette of a seal passing by, and upon closer look she ID RL42, she came up on shore. Benny didn't react only to turn his head to look at her and go back to sleep. RL42 came within 10 feer of Benny, gave him some space, turned on her side and went to sleep.
A volunteer arrived at 9 am, Team Billand stayed on for a bit to see if they could get a better look at his molt, but Benny didn't cooperate.
A couple came out of their house, Barb shined a light on Benny so they would SEE him, but both went and did yoga in the zone. With an entire beach ??? Oh well what can ya say?
At 10 am Benny moved down to RL42 looked right at her, then took off and went straight out into the waters towards the divers and boats. Team Billand left the site at 10:15 am.
Posse pal Vicki found RI37 Ipo at Hauula. She's easy to ID by her large scar across her tail. Nice to see her around. Vicki was also at Turtle Bay and there she found Mama Ua Malie with number one son Holokai RG40 and number two son RJ16 Kahulu. Sunday afternoon family gathering.
Gayle's only find was Right Spot at Sandy Beach. Gayle braved the winds and stayed with her until 18:10. Right Spot didn't appear to be leaving anytime soon. Anyone who knows Gayle knows she is small in stature, we just lucky she didn't get blown away today :-)
