January 11, 2025 Saturday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:15 to 1:40 pm and there were four seals seen during that time.
Almost directly down from the 1BS was RK24 Bruno: adult size, medium gray male belly, two red tags and a scar on the right rear side.
Between 3BS and SRI were three seals.
Next to each other about 70 feet Makapuu of SRI were two seals:
Sub-adult Male 1: sub-adult size, older coat, yellow male belly and two red tags.
Near the S/M 1 was Sub-adult Male 2: sub-adult size, light gray male belly, unsure about tags.
Initially  close to SRI was R416 Makali'i: larger sub-adult size, light male belly and distinctive scar and pigmented patch, no tags and pit scar above LFF. Marilyn hadn't seen him in awhile and was glad to see him back.

Team R&B stopped at Makaha where there was a surf competition going on. They watched the kids surf for a little bit.
Then they saw something on shore and went to check it out. It was a turtle resting peacefully in a zone set up by the lifeguards.
They scanned the beach and were surprised when they saw a seal hauling up on the rocks from afar.  Of course they headed over and there was RL42 Leia, hiding in between the rocks. There was a woman sun bathing, so Team R&B let her know about the seal, she had seen it and was fine.

It was another slow seal day, so they watched for whales. They saw a pod by one of the fishing boats. There were no breaches but lots of chasing going on.
They also watched the surfers enjoying the waves.  And they got a cool pic of a bird passing by.

Then over at Kahe watching out over the ocean, when they happened to see some snorkelers who were near two seals. One seal was an
adult,  greenish coat with a red tag, they believe this is Lei Ola RH76.
The other seal has a clean coat, adult size and two tags, unsure if it was a male.
They watched over the animals for over an hour hoping to get something more. But it was late, so they called it a day.
