January 28, 2025 Tuesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn, posse pal Kathy and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:30 to 1:55 pm and there were two seals seen during that time..
Almost straight down from the 1BS was an Adult Female: adult size, older coat, tan female belly with some darker patches in the upper chest area and two red tags.
Between 3BS and SRI was an Adult Male: adult size, newer coat, gray male belly and two red tags. At some point Marilyn thought he might have a white bleach on his rear flippers, but it could have been a white rock.

Posse pal Kathy sent some photos of a seal that was at Iroquois today. The seal was first seen at 8:00 am and was still there this afternoon at 4:45 pm. Based on her observations she believes this is RH58 Rocky. I did check with Team R&B and they agree although not 100% sure.  So for the purposes of the blog I'm labeling this seal as Rocky.

Team R&B arrived at Pokai to find Miss Kala RH76. She was alone resting peacefully. They spent two hours hanging out with her, hoping other critters would show up. Apparently there weren't any schools of fish out there either, so the seals probably following the food source.
While on site they met a couple visiting from India who were interested in learning about RH76. They told Team R&B that in their language Kala means Heaven.

Team R&B spent the day checking out all the usual spots and
observing whatever they could find. They did the whales today. There were many of them but they were far out.  They did see a mom and calf that looked small, maybe it was a new addition.

On their way home they pulled over one last time to check one last spot. Luck was on their side! They found another seal who was sleeping on the warm rocks. Checking that tags they saw it was RP30 Puka.  It was a great way to end their day.  They took a moment to soak in the scenery. As Barb said, we are so lucky we live here!
