Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:15 to 2:15 pm and initially there were no seals.
Finally about 12:33 pm, a seal hauled out on the rocks flats Lanikai side of SRI. Marilyn believes this seal is RK24 Bruno: adult size, medium gray male belly, two red tags and an scar on the right rear side. In several of the photos it looked like RK24 might have a a small nb on the top of his LFF.
About 1 pm, one of the Ocean Engineering employees came to letMarilyn know of two seals under the sub-barn. The information came from Terry Kerby, former captain of the UH research submersibles. Terry told Marilyn of the two seal under the sub-barn. Then Terry left for his 2 mile swim. Marilyn watched for about 20 minutes but did not see any seals. Terry sent Marilyn a couple of photos but the water was murky. Hard to make an ID from the photos.
Team R&B had an appointment this morning, but got a call of a seal had landed at Plains. As soon as they were done they headed over to check it out. When they arrived they found RL12 Miss Aukai snoozing in a zone that the lifeguards had set up.
Team R&B were told that a volunteer has gone by and tried to take down the signs and ropes. They were stopped and told that the signs and ropes keep people away from the seal. When Team R&B arrived the volunteer had left.
Aukai kept getting hit by the waves, she kept checking to see if she move up, finally she turned to move putting her head in the sand a plowing, but then she suddenly popped her head way up, eyes open wide. It was as if she heard something coming. She took off, entering the water and hanging out by the fence line. A surfer decided just then to enter the water and Aukai spotted him, she circled one more time and left heading in the Ewa direction.
While out Team R&B met up with their friends and were able to watch some whales. The boats were out as usual and the whales kept heading further out.
They headed over to pokai and were happy to find two seals in the area today. One was RH76 Kala looking chubby. She was resting at her special "zen" space.
The other seals was RM31 Kai. He was snoozing on the edge of the rocks.
