January 21, 2023 Yesterday's News

Marilyn sent and update to her trek out to Ka'ena Point on Saturday.
Diane Philomene and Marilyn met up with Lesley and they saw seven seals!
Just as they arrived a seal left the main pool and disappeared. She didn't get a photo but Lesley ID'd R330 Squinty.
Near each other by the entrance to the main pool were two seals:
Unknown Sub-Adult with applied bleach N11 and N1 ( it moved before the bleach application was complete) juvenile to sub-adult size, older coat, unknown sex because they never saw its belly and no tags. The N11 on the left side and the N1 on the shoulder were visible.
R416 Makalii's new N!0 bleaches showed really well. R416: juvenile size, no tags, new N10 applied bleach. He never showed his belly but his CC scar in front of LFF was visible.
On the favorite rock in the middle of the pool was TA68: adult size, 1KO tag, several scars on back. He never showed his belly. He spent much of their viewing time with his head in the water blowing bubbles and occasionally lifting his head to breathe.
Up on the right side rocks was R617 Kimo, juvenile size, male belly, untagged. Only a few scars on his LFF were seen. He thrilled the many visitors by vomiting bright yellow stuff two times.
In Ka'ena's pool were two seals:
RG40 Holokai and RN58 Luana were snoozing near each other. RN58's tag, female belly, scar on upper chest and the parallel line scars on her head were visible.
When they were departing on of the Laysan Albatross gave them a shot of its egg before settling back down to sit
