Marilyn spent about an hour at Spitting Cave this morning and was pleased to see a Hawaiian Monk Seal. The seal was foraging and Marilyn was thrilled when she got a legible tag shot showing M26. RM26 Nohea is Kaiwi's pup born April 2020. Marilyn remembered trying to see her during the early days of Covid Lockdown and getting asked by DOCARE to leave the beach.
Nohea is subadult size, two red tags M26 & M27, and seems to have a few small scars and or nb on her back. She may have had something in her mouth when she surfaced at least one of the times. There is some green around her muzzle and near the base of her rear flippers.
Marilyn then headed over to view Rabbit ISland from about 12:55 to 2:55 pm today. There was only one seal during her observation.
On LPB near the surge channel and slightly up the beach was a molting Adult Female: adult size, two red tags, about 50% molted (most of the ventral, the head and part way up the sides.)
Team R&B only had one seal today. At a west side location they found RG28 Lefty alone. He was just relaxing on his own today. He was hard to see, but they spotted enough markers to get his ID.
