Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:50 to 2:30 and there were ultimately five seals on island today.
At the start there were three seals fairly far apart on LPB. Most Lanikai side was Adult Female 1: large adult size, tannish-green female belly and at least one red tag.
RK37 Huia: adult female, newly molted, light gray female belly, nb on lower left side and two red tags.
At 1:08 Marilyn became aware of a weaner hauling out form the Lanikai side of LPB. Marilyn believes this to be RS34 because of her pale nb on lower right side. She only moved a short way up the beach and then snoozed. She did not interact with the other seals.
At 1:34, the other weaner RS12 hauled out in the middle of LPB and galumphed up near RK37. they had some brief interaction and then RS12 moved away and went into snooze mode showing her light belly. Her two red tags were visible when she galumphed up the beach.
Team R&B only had one seal today as they had appointments to deal with. At a west side location they found RM31 Kai on the rocks alone. All of a sudden he fell off the rocks .... ker plunk! He immediately got back up on the rocks somewhat dazed. I imagine this was one of the funnier things seen by Team R&B.
He galumphed over the rocks to the next pond and proceeded to roll in the water looking around. Pretty darn cute.
