July 10, 2023 Monday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:25 to 3:05 and there were five seals during her observation.
On LPB were:
Adult Female 1: large adult size, older coat with yellowish tan female belly and at least the left rear flipper tag. This is most likely one of the females from yesterday (A/F 2)
RK37 Huia was closer to the waterline. Her molt appears to be around 95% with just a  few spots of old fur on her head and rear dorsal area. She looks a light grayish silver on her ventral side with her female belly and two red tags.

Among the waterfront rocks about 50 feet Makapuu of the 1BS was a Juvenile Female: juvenile size, older coat with a fair amount of green under her eyes and two red tags. Marilyn doesn't think this is Mahina RQ44 unless she is partially molted.

Between 3BS and SRI was Adult Female 2: adult size, two red tags and tannish female belly with lots of sand.

At about 2:20 Marilyn notices one of the weaners had hauledd out at RRB near the channel: weaner size, shape, color, unsure about tags or belly. One of the weaners has hauled out at this location fairly often.

Team R&B's first find was an unknown adult foraging. It was out there for the longest time near the jetty. They could see it had tags, but unable to get a number. It also had a scar on its back, scratches too and a scar on the right side of its head. They thought about RG32 but he doesn't have tags. Then they though maybe RL20 but couldn't be
sure. Hopefully NOAA folks will know.

At another west side location they lucked out with three seals. RM31 Kai was with R416 on the rocks. The two were snoozing getting hit by the waves.
To the right was Lefty RG28. He was alone and resting doing just fine.
